How to Rank Higher in Google

With Google Updates and SERPs changes, it’s getting harder and harder to achieve organic visibility. More and more huge brands take over short-tail competitive SERPs? What can sites with smaller budgets do?

You need to become a brand

Invest in creating a huge resource. Build something awesome at least monthly! Our digital assets team is brainstorming weekly so our clients get featured in publications like New York Times and Washington Post.

Not each of your content assets will become viral: But it’s a huge learning curve. You’ll learn how to better target influencers, where to get discovered and what types of content excite your community.

Don’t invest in short-term targets: If all you do is trying to rank high for your main short-tail phrases, chances are, you are breaking Google Guidelines.

Create new things to your site: eBooks, infographics, quizzes. Think outside of the box: Organize a National “Blue Widget Day”! Announce REAL news: for examples “we have developed the largest blue widget ever” and get it covered all over the place.

If you can’t afford to hire an expert, become an expert. Build connections in your niche. Invest in building your brand!

By building the brand, you don’t have to worry about Google Updates.

You have to be original, creative, unique and entertaining.

What Google has been preaching for years “Create a great website” is something you can’t get away without any longer.

That’s what Jim Boykin was speaking about over at ClickZ conference. Read the coverage here: Digital Assets to Get People TALK about You by @JimBoykin at #CZLSF
