It’s that time of year again, when the chicest of styles populate Twitter timelines around the world. With New York Fashion week starting tomorrow, Twitter users are bound to see an increase in fashion photos, videos, Periscopes, and Vines that will bring them closer to all the action.
To celebrate the fashion community on Twitter, we’ve teamed up with IMG (@NYFW) to host an in-person #fashionflock event at The McKittrick Hotel on Sept. 9. Attendees of the event and fashion fans around the world are invited to Tweet during the week — whether from the front row, backstage, or anywhere — using the hashtag #fashionflock. The hashtag is an easy way for people to follow or join the conversation on Twitter, getting closer to the shows that matter most to them. Throughout the event — and the whole week — be sure to follow #fashionflock, #NYFW, @NYFW, @TwitterFashion, and subscribe to this Twitter list to experience the best content of the week.
We wanted to treat fashion fans on Twitter with a way to add a boost of passion and imagery to their Tweets, so we’re rolling out special #NYFW Twitter emojis. When users Tweet #NYFW or #fashionflock during fashion week, a custom emoji will appear. The emojis and hashtags will change throughout the week, so we’re encouraging fashion lovers to Tweet to see the rotation of images. Here’s a preview of what you can expect:
In addition to emojis adding fun and excitement to your Tweets, designers will be showcasing a behind-the-scenes look of their shows with Twitter Mirrors stationed backstage, live-looks of the runway with Periscope broadcasts, and more.
While the fashion elite will certainly be Tweeting all week, content will not only come from models and designers; it’s coming from popular digital stars who are creating and sharing engaging media-rich content on Twitter. Be sure to follow @CameronDallas, @LaurenGiraldo, and @LOHANTHONY for behind-the-scenes photos and videos throughout the week.
Here are some Tweets to whet your fashion week palate. Check back next Friday for some of the best Tweets of the week, plus data that dives into which designers were most popular on Twitter.
